H2: Lightweight Alloys for Reduced Emissions

Lightweight materials are essential for improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. Aluminum alloys such as AA6061 and AA7075 offer high strength-to-weight ratios and are increasingly used in engine components. Aluminum-based hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMCs) are being developed for pistons and other components to improve wear resistance and overall performance while reducing weight.

H2: Additive Manufacturing – 3D Printing for Engine Components

Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is enhancing efficiency in engine manufacturing. Serial production of components using direct and selective laser growth techniques has resulted in a 15% reduction in manufacturing time compared with traditional methods. This technology enables complex geometries that would be impossible or prohibitively expensive to produce through conventional methods.
