Key Points for Daily Inspection of Cylinder Block

The cylinder block is the core matrix of the engine, and its working condition directly determines the power, sealing, and durability of the engine. Regular inspection of the cylinder block on a daily basis can promptly detect hidden faults such as leakage, wear, and deformation, avoiding the deterioration of small problems leading to serious faults such as cylinder pulling, bursting, and oil emulsification, effectively extending the service life of the engine. The following are the core points of daily inspections.

1、 Appearance seal leakage inspection

Priority should be given to observing the overall condition of the cylinder block during daily inspections, with a focus on checking the position of the cylinder body joints, oil passages, and water passage interfaces. Check for signs of oil leakage, coolant seepage, and accumulation of oil sludge and water stains at the joint between the cylinder block and cylinder gasket. At the same time, check whether the screw holes of the cylinder block and the water and oil blocking screws are intact, without looseness, rust, or leakage. Abnormal sealing is the most intuitive initial manifestation of cylinder block failure.

2、 Oil water working condition inspection

The working condition of the cylinder block can be indirectly determined by the status of the engine oil and coolant. Regularly check the color and level of the engine oil. If the engine oil turns white and emulsifies, or the level rises abnormally, it is likely that the cylinder block water channel is damaged or the cylinder gasket seal is ineffective, leading to oil-water communication. At the same time, observe the coolant. If the coolant is cloudy or mixed with oil stains, it indicates that there is a leakage problem inside the cylinder body, and it needs to be repaired in a timely manner to prevent further corrosion inside the cylinder body.

3、 Cylinder pressure and wear inspection

Regularly check the cylinder pressure, and ensure that the pressure of each cylinder is uniform and meets the original factory standards. If the pressure of a single or multiple cylinders is low, it is likely due to cylinder wall wear, out of roundness, pulling, or poor piston ring sealing. If there is a decrease in power, idle shaking, blue smoke from exhaust, or excessive oil consumption during driving, further inspection of the wear on the inner wall of the cylinder block is necessary to identify issues with excessive taper and roundness.

4、 Temperature and shell damage inspection

Real time monitoring of engine water temperature while driving to prevent long-term high-temperature operation, as high temperatures can easily cause cylinder deformation and cracking. Daily inspection of the cylinder body shell to check for any damage such as bumps, cracks, deformation, rust, etc. Especially after the chassis is supported, it is necessary to focus on checking the bottom and corner positions of the cylinder body to avoid hidden cracks causing subsequent failures.

In summary, the daily inspection of the cylinder block mainly focuses on appearance, oil and water, pressure, and working conditions. Regular inspections and standardized maintenance are carried out to minimize cylinder block failures and ensure stable engine operation.
