Engine oil leakage is a high-frequency problem in vehicle maintenance, which not only causes oil loss, but also may lead to serious malfunctions such as component wear and overheating due to insufficient lubrication. Accurately identifying the cause of oil leakage and adopting scientific repair methods are the key to avoiding repeated problems. Here is a detailed guide.

1、 Common causes of oil leakage: Identifying the root cause is a prerequisite

Oil leakage is mainly caused by seal failure or component damage, and there are three core reasons. One is the aging of seals, such as valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, crankshaft oil seals, etc. Rubber seals are prone to hardening and cracking due to long-term exposure to high temperatures and vibrations, which is the main cause of oil leakage in old cars; The second issue is bolt loosening. Continuous vibration during engine operation can cause loose fixing bolts in areas such as the oil pan and oil filter base, resulting in gaps and leaks; The third is component damage, such as deformation of the oil pan due to collision, sand holes in the cylinder body, and damage to the oil radiator, which can directly cause oil leakage. These problems are often related to external impact or manufacturing defects.

2、 Targeted repair method: graded according to difficulty level

Repair should follow the principle of "easy first, difficult later" to reduce maintenance costs. Simple faults can be self handled or easily handled: loose bolts only need to be tightened with standard torque; Minor seal leakage can be assisted by using specialized sealant for sealing. Medium difficulty faults require professional operation: aging seals need to be replaced as a whole, and the sealing surface needs to be cleaned during replacement to ensure a tight fit; Slight deformation of the oil pan can be corrected and repaired. Complex faults require professional maintenance, such as sand holes in the cylinder body and damaged oil radiators. The engine needs to be disassembled or core components replaced. It is recommended to go to a regular repair shop for handling to avoid disassembling and damaging more parts on your own.

3、 Key points for verification and prevention after repair

After repair, it is necessary to add the specified type of engine oil, start the engine and let it idle for 10-15 minutes, and observe whether there is any new leakage in the oil leakage area. Daily prevention can reduce the probability of oil leakage: firstly, regularly replace the engine oil and filter element, choose engine oil that meets the specifications, and avoid corroding the seals; The second is to avoid collisions at the bottom of the vehicle and protect components such as the oil pan; The third is to regularly check the condition of the seals, replace them in a timely manner if signs of aging are found, and achieve early prevention and treatment.
