The G6DH is a naturally aspirated, 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine developed by the Hyundai Motor Group. As part of the company's Lambda engine family, it represents a modern, fuel-efficient powertrain that has been widely applied across various Hyundai and Kia models. This engine is notable for its combination of performance, advanced fuel delivery, and broad vehicle compatibility.

At its core, the G6DH is a 3,342 cc, six-cylinder engine with a 60-degree V-configuration. It features a Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) design with 24 valves, allowing for precise control of airflow at high engine speeds. The most significant technological highlight of this engine is its Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) system. Unlike traditional port fuel injection, GDI injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber at high pressure. This allows for more precise fuel metering, enabling a more complete and efficient burn. The result is increased power output, improved fuel economy, and reduced emissions compared to older, less efficient fuel delivery systems.

In terms of performance, the G6DH engine produces between 280 and 282 horsepower (approximately 206-207 kW). Its peak torque output is rated at around 270 lb-ft, which is delivered across a wide and usable rev range. This power output places the engine firmly in the competitive mid-range V6 segment, offering a strong balance of responsive acceleration for everyday driving and ample passing power for highway use. The engine's construction from lightweight aluminum further contributes to overall vehicle efficiency by reducing weight.

The G6DH engine was a popular choice for a range of mid-size and large vehicles within the Hyundai and Kia lineups. It could be found powering models such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Azera, Kia Sorento, and Kia Cadenza. Its versatility is evidenced by its fitment in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

In conclusion, the G6DH engine is a well-engineered powertrain that successfully integrates modern technology like direct injection with a robust V6 architecture. It provided a compelling package of power and efficiency for a generation of Hyundai and Kia vehicles. While it has been succeeded by newer, often turbocharged, engines in the current market, the G6DH remains a significant and reliable example of the brand's engineering capabilities in the naturally aspirated V6 segment.
