When purchasing a brand new, disassembled or refurbished gearbox assembly, a complete inspection can effectively avoid faulty parts such as water ingress, major repairs, and shell damage. The acceptance work mainly revolves around the four core positions of the shell, seal, gearbox oil, and transmission shaft.

1、 Check the appearance and model identification of the shell

First, check the engraved model and body number on the shell to confirm that they match the corresponding vehicle model and power parameters, in order to avoid the inability to load due to model mismatch. Carefully observe whether there are any impact dents, cracks, welding repair marks around the box, and check the machine foot fixing holes and screw holes. If there are any slipping, cracking, or deformation, it is easy to cause resonance oil leakage after installation. Such assemblies should be rejected directly.

2、 Check the sealing points of the entire vehicle

Focus on inspecting the front and rear output input oil seals, oil pan joints, end cover mating surfaces, and wiring harness plug sealing rings. The surface of the high-quality assembly is clean and free of oil stains. If there are fresh oil stains or accumulated sludge on the joints, it indicates that there is a leakage hazard in the seal. The large area of disassembly and twisting marks on the fixing screws of the housing indicates that the gearbox has undergone multiple dismantling and repairs, and there are many hidden dangers of internal wear. It is not recommended to accept the goods.

3、 Extracting transmission oil to determine internal operating conditions

Normal transmission oil is clear and free of impurities. If the oil turns black, turbid, and floats with a large amount of metal debris, it indicates severe wear on the internal gears and bearings; If the oil is in a milky white emulsified state, it indicates that the gearbox has been flooded, and the internal friction plates and bearings are easily corroded. After installation, problems such as slipping, jerking, and abnormal noise may occur.

4、 Detecting the operation status of input and output shafts

A manual gearbox can rotate the shaft by hand without any lag, noise, or significant displacement during operation, which is considered qualified. Inspect the valve body plug of the automatic transmission to ensure it is intact, switch gears smoothly, and observe whether the shaft spline and clutch drum are corroded or worn. Severe wear of the spline can cause shaking during driving, which is a significant defect.

The overall acceptance follows the inspection sequence of the shell, seal, oil, and shaft body. After each item is checked and completed, the quality of the gearbox assembly can be confirmed to meet the standards, greatly reducing the cost of later maintenance.
